If and When does Child Support Include Post High School EducationSome states provide for support to continue until the child reaches the age of 21. However Illinois’ age cut-off has been set at 18 or 19 depending on completion of high school. However, this is subject to the court’s discretion and in some cases the court will require the support to include a provision for the continued education of the child. The court does not believe that every parent should be obligated to participate in the post high school educational expenses, but in cases that involve disabled children, the court tends to lean toward some, if not full participation.
